Grow the team
Set the direction, develop leaders, and give people meaningful ownership. Build the judgment and confidence to make decisions, take on greater responsibility, and deliver without depending on one person.
Brett Axler leads technical teams and complex programs across infrastructure, live events, and streaming. His work spans the Super Bowl, Walt Disney World, and Wembley Stadium, bringing together the people, systems, and preparation behind major live experiences.
Different time zones. Same uptime expectations.
Connect on LinkedInFor more than 15 years, Brett has helped deliver major live events and the technology behind them. His experience spans streaming, data center deployments, and live production, including the World Baseball Classic and New Year’s Eve in Times Square.
Today, he leads Live Technical Launch Management at Netflix. His earlier work at Google, YouTube, and Disney covered infrastructure, engineering, and operations, connecting technical decisions to the teams and programs responsible for delivery.
Leading across the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia takes more than managing time zones. It takes time and care to understand what clients need, how local teams work, and the cultural expectations that shape a project.
His approach is to set a clear North Star, then give people the authority and support to chart their own path. The goal is to deliver the project while helping the people behind it grow into their next challenge.
Set the direction, develop leaders, and give people meaningful ownership. Build the judgment and confidence to make decisions, take on greater responsibility, and deliver without depending on one person.
Align engineering, operations, clients, and partners around a shared plan. Respect local ways of working, resolve competing priorities, and keep responsibilities clear across time zones.
Translate product goals into capacity plans, technical programs, and operating practices. Make the tradeoffs between reliability, cost, and speed clear so teams can support growth.
Brett has developed AI workflows for engineering and operations teams to reduce repetitive work and put useful context behind decisions. The goal: give engineers more time for engineering and help operators support more systems without growing the team at the same rate.
His focus is agentic live operations: connecting 24/7 monitoring, diagnosis, and recovery so operators can manage exceptions instead of watching every signal.
AI workflows bring incident context, operational documentation, and communications into the same process. The next step is to connect signals across systems, helping teams trace a symptom to its source and decide what to do next.
Practical training and shared workflows help teams move beyond individual experiments. The focus is on reducing day-to-day toil, giving engineers time to build, and helping operators support a larger footprint.
Experience in data centers, networking, capacity planning, and operational readiness informs the approach to AI infrastructure. Growth needs reliable systems and operating practices that do not require another person for every new service.
The direction is recovery within defined limits: automate well-understood fixes, verify the result, and escalate uncertain or high-impact decisions. Operators need a record of what changed, a way to intervene, and a path back when a fix does not work.
Two independent projects built by Brett, both available to use today.
